Do you want to live your best natural hair life?
Do you ever wonder if you're doing something wrong or what you could be doing differently? Taking care of your hair in it's natural state can be empowering and overwhelming at times.
Here’s a few things you may be doing to block your hair blessings, that you may not have known.
1. Overconditioning
If you are leaving a deep conditioner in over night or beyond the directions on the bottle, you are not providing “extra” conditioning to your hair. Deep conditioners are formulated to stop working once it reaches the maximum absorption point. What harm could it cause you ask? Over time, it will cause a change in the structural building blocks of your hair which will result in weakening the hair.
2. Using the Wrong Products
You see a ton of products on the store shelves, but don’t know which ones to use. It's a good idea to read the label to see what’s in it. If you don’t know what you are putting in your hair, how will you know what works and what doesn’t? When in doubt, keep it simple. The ingredient list is best in determining if you should use a product or not.
3. Not Shampooing Enough
There are some who frown at the mention of shampoo. The hair and scalp needs to be cleansed and that adding other products to hair that has not been shampooed will only create product buildup. How often you should shampoo varies from one curly head of hair to the next.
So, while there are many things to consider in your natural hair journey, the benefits and rewards of the little extra TLC you give to your crown is definitely worth it!
